Author Vision Boards

In today's busy world, a few of us have discovered that we are not satisfied to be ordinary. We discovered the written word and how good it feels to have those words flow from our finger tips. At some point in our lives, something told each and every one of us that we were born to be authors.

Think about it. Try to tell yourself you can no longer write. Not another word. Another syllable. You can no longer entertain those characters who burst to life in your head while in the shower, or on the grocery line. The thought of never writing makes your feel rather queasy, no? That's because each and every one of us has a unique story (or several!) to tell the world. Maybe it's in our genetic makeup.

Yet, sometimes in the rush, we forget our initial inspiration. Every-day living gets in the way. Rewrites and edits frustrate us. Rejections take their toll. Criticisms from those who are supposed to care, cut deep. But, we forge on as authors. Because, to stop writing is just not an option.

The Mega-Author's Visionary Club is my invitation to revisit your initial inspiration. It's an invitation to step out of time for a while. To ruminate, dream, and create. To spend time re-discovering you. You can do this activity alone, or invite other writers to join you. You can serve beverages. Share a meal. But, when you're finished, you will have created a Vision Board specifically describing you---your world as an author. Vision Boards will help cement your goals. The mantra in the movie, Field of Dreams, promised: “If you build it, they will come.” I say, build your Vision Board. Success will come.
